In a Regency romance full of misadventure, Marcus, Duke of Autenberry, unwittingly purchases Alyse Bell to be his wife at a Scottish village auction. Artfully voicing the people the couple encounter as they travel through Scotland, narrator Carmen Rose displays her knack for accents. However, her ability to add personality and passion to the characters' dialogue belies the flat delivery she gives to most of the narrative. In descriptive passages she is also less than successful. The mispronunciation of the central female character's name does little for the narration as a whole. Overall, this is a serviceable but relatively tiresome production.
