President Obama's stenographer has a ton of great stories to share from her time in the Oval Office--from how she got the job (an unassuming ad on Craigslist!) to her questioning of aspects of the subsequent administration, which led to her decision to quit. This wealth of fascinating information is compromised by Dorey-Stein's narration of her own beautiful prose. The lack of vocal variety combined with her tendency to read multiple sentences together as one long thought make it difficult for the listener to stay focused. Dorey-Stein has a biting wit, but unfortunately her humor often misses the mark with the noted absence of a well-timed pause. This is one audiobook that will have listeners seeking out the print version. A.L.C. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPTEMBER 2018]
