DANCIN' BONES: STORIES AND THEN SOME

If you love good storytelling, the kind that makes you grin and sigh and laugh, pull up a chair and listen to Regi Carpenter weave her magic spell. Five stories, each vastly different from the previous one, are told in a variety of styles, showcasing Carpenter's versatile talent. Her lively Southern accent graces three of the stories, while a superb Irish brogue sends "The Woman Who Flummoxed the Fairies" over the top. Exuberant fiddle music enhances this story as it does "Dancin' Bones." The exaggerated voices of such characters as the Fairy King, Lazy Jack, the corpse of Old John Kelley, and Brer Rabbit join with the sounds of an outrageous howling dog and screeching cat to transport the listener to the world of each story. The collection ends with a creation myth, which is quieter, more spiritual in tone and is told with a quiet reverence. New Age music enhances this final piece. Consider this an essential purchase!
