THE RULE OF ONE The Rule of One, Book 1

Narrator Karissa Vacker pulls double duty as she delivers the first- person accounts of twins in a drought-ravaged postapocalyptic America. The solution to overpopulation and starvation is to institute the draconian "rule of one," which prohibits anyone in the United States from having more than one child. At times in her narration, Vacker gasps, screams, and sobs, fully immersing the listener in the story. Her narration does not differentiate in any way between sisters Ava, the "real" twin who is known in the world, and Mira, the twin who has been hidden away but who takes turns in the world as her sister.
