Big Al is one "huge, puffy, scary, fierce-looking fish." But he wants to make friends with other fish, and he’s willing to work at it. Despite all his attempts at disguises, though, Big Al still scares off all potential companions. Narrator Kevin Free's pleasant, sympathetic voice delivers this tale with just the right touch. His pacing is also perfect: not too fast for the beginning reader, but not too slow for more impatient folks. Free's lightly dramatic reading invites listeners to enjoy the happy ending, in which Big Al's sharp teeth and ugly looks come to the rescue.
