Mixing seriousness with levity, Robbie Daymond delivers a balanced narration that underscores what it means to be a good friend. Desperate for internet fame, Devin Velma conspires to record a jaw-dropping video of outrageous antics--namely, the double-barreled monkey bar backflip of doom--with the help of his best friend, Addison. Not surprisingly, the planned playground stunt and what follows do not go according to plan. However, Daymond's spot-on portrayal of a wary and wise principal is one of many funny highlights. Both Devin and Addison feel the weight of family burdens outside of their control, and with careful modulation, Daymond manages their difficult, shifting emotions well, particularly as listeners learn why public recognition means so much to Devin.
