This is an audiobook for people who really love Ben Franklin. Narrator Dan Woren does an excellent job telling the Franklin family story-- from their roots in England to their journey to the Colonies. Author Nick Bunker is an expert researcher and first-rate writer. But one must have a deep and abiding love of Franklin to want learn all about his family's origins as well as young Benjamin's trials and tribulations, which, as the subtitle suggests, were filled with moments of ingenuity. The story of Franklin's path from candlemaker to publisher, journalist to scientist, and eventually to Founding Father, is fascinating, especially as told by Woren. But this remains a listen for only the most die-hard Franklin aficionados. J.P.S. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2018]
