Often, comedian Arte Johnson narrates Dave Barry's novels, but this time Barry narrates himself, which turns out to be an excellent idea. The "Lucy" in the title of Barry's latest audiobook is his elderly dog. And, as any dog owner can affirm, old dogs are great teachers. Barry injects just the right amount of self-deprecation into the humor. Who else but the author could legitimately have a catch in his throat while reading the sad parts? The star of the audiobook, Lucy, has lessons for us, which include wise advice such as remember you're never too old to play and don't worry about the future--it will be here soon enough. Like every other Barry audiobook, LESSONS FROM LUCY is a joy to hear. M.S. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2019]
