Narrator Sandy Rustin blurs the lines between the supernatural and real life in this ghostly story of a teenage runaway. Bina Tremper attempts to understand her mother's past while she escapes to a young woman's residence in New York City brimming with grim secrets and enigmatic residents. Rustin guides listeners between Bina's own painful past and murky present in a youthful and quizzical tone.The other Catherine House girls are voiced similarly, which adds to the cultish atmosphere of the Greenwich Village residence. As the bizarre plot unfolds, Rustin's gentle pacing guides listeners. While this novel is not for every listener, Rustin's narration will aid those looking for a mystery mixed with magical realism and a slow-paced coming-of-age story.
