In Groff's audiobook, the issue of global climate change is made personal and individually devastating. Narrator Dara Rosenberg expertly inhabits the character of Ange, a woman whose chance encounter with dead baby birds that were poisoned by plastics in the environment kicks off a steady unraveling of her mental and physical well-being. It's an intimate, character-driven story made quietly affecting through Rosenberg's easy cadences and well-chosen phrasing. This isn't a pleasant listen, as global warming is a daunting issue, but there is pleasure to be found in Rosenberg's steady performance.
