Narrator Kirsten Potter successfully voices three very different female characters who alternate chapters as their stories unfold and intertwine. The tenth book in the Detective D.D. Warren series includes an abundance of secondary characters, some with heavy Boston accents, and listeners will appreciate Potter's talented delivery. Detective Warren investigates the murder of a man, supposedly by his wife, Evie Carter, whom D.D. encountered 16 years earlier while investigating a case. The plot is further complicated when Flora Danes, D.D.'s confidential informant who is a kidnap survivor and now a vigilante for justice, recognizes the murder victim as an associate of her kidnapper. This well-done match of narrator and author results in the audiobook equivalent of a page-turner. E.Q. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2019]
