I'M FINE AND NEITHER ARE YOU

The oft-visited trope of the contemporary female protagonist who is struggling to have it all is back in this audiobook, along with a few twists. Amy McFadden offers a reasonable narration of this novel, immersing herself in the drama and working hard to make her characters come alive. Most of the dialogue is well performed, although the children's voices can sound forced and clichéd. Some of McFadden's enunciation comes across as affected, but her energy is memorable and suits the plot. Penelope--juggling work, kids, and a passive spouse--endures a shocking event and turns that trauma into a catalyst for change in her life.
