Ron Butler's skilled performance elevates this story, which is high on steam, lower on substance. The premise has potential: Ashley Ryan is visiting Catalina Cove, where she encounters a man who is a dead ringer for her late husband. "Ray Sullivan," who is starting his life over after awakening from a coma with amnesia, doesn't recognize Ashley--though he is inexplicably drawn to her. Butler sensitively conveys the confusion, vulnerability, attraction, and, finally, hope that each character journeys through. Steamy sex scenes abound--but end up feeling repetitive. More character development and fewer sexy scenes would have given Butler more to work with. L.C.L. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2019]
