Set in the computer industry, Joe Hutsko's first novel is often obvious in plotting and characterization, but its keen portrayal of human emotions (both noble and petty) and its commitment to telling an engaging story are ultimately contagious. Similar double-edged observations apply to Jim Bond's performance. What the narration lacks in subtlety it more than makes up for in clarity and projection. Those qualities aren't to be taken lightly when many audiobooks are played in the midst of commuter traffic. Though Bond often reminds one more of a polished radio announcer than a narrator, his vocal range does permit him to credibly voice the senior citizens, young women and middle-aged masters of the universe who inhabit this quirky story of love and software.
