Narrator John Michael Higgins lightheartedly portrays the ecologically extreme Charlie Waldo. Gould's fast-paced sequel to LAST LOOKS is filled with quirky characters and oddballs, but none more quirky or odd than ex-cop Waldo, who lives a hermit-like existence, refusing to own more than 100 things or to own a vehicle because they pollute. Higgins is also wonderful as Lorena, Waldo's P.I. lover. She convinces Waldo to help her with the case of 15-year-old Stevie, who is accused of killing the history teacher she claims seduced her. After being caught in several big lies, Stevie's credibility becomes questionable, but the two work to find the real killer. Gould and Higgins offer a fun and exciting audiobook with tongue-in-cheek humor, hot sex, and a plot with more twists than a pretzel.
