Pamela Almand has a gift for making complex issues sound straightforward. Her narration of this intelligent and thoughtful guide makes it comprehensible to anyone interested in writing, editing, and/or the process of bringing books from manuscript to print. The author, a longtime copy editor at the University of Chicago Press, handles the myriad questions submitted online to the Press and uses some of these to enliven this audiobook. Almand is especially adept at expressing the author's self-effacing style. Her reading captures the author's wit as well as her occasionally ironic and often informative tone. This audiobook contains a multitude of pointers for anyone who deals with the written word. The triumvirate of carefulness, transparence, and flexibility is good advice for writers and editors of any level. A.D.M. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2019]
