Chris Henry Coffey narrates this audiobook about high-end cider with the knowledgeable tones of a wine expert (as well as hints of sarcasm and disdain for lesser ciders). Writer Jason Wilson is studying cider with an eye toward becoming a "pommelier." His tour of cider orchards and makers is informative and often entertaining. Coffey makes asides amusing--for example, he describes flannel shirts and ponytails as essentials for cider makers. As Coffey enthuses about a $50 glass of cider, listeners may get the feeling that Wilson dismisses any cider they can afford as alcoholic pop from "Big Cider" machines such as Angry Orchard. Wilson's preference for heritage cider over the contemporary stuff is clear. Listeners who have entered through the sweet cider gateway and want to try the dry high-end stuff will find Wilson's tour informative.
