In alternating chapters, Laura Nichol narrates from the perspectives of a Riot Grrl in 1992 and as a time traveler from 2022. There is a group of villains who are trying to wipe out women's rights and a group of heroines who are trying to stop them. This audiobook is rife with tension and angst, which Nichol handles magnificently. She embodies the characters and brings them to life. We hear agony, pain, and fear. However, the book, and with it Nichol's narration, falls flat when the story is bogged down in a lot of exposition on the rules of time travel. There is no real way to emote how black holes work. The tangents make for an uneven listen. A.R.F. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2019]
