Put on your earbuds, pour a cup of tea, and travel back to the 1950s with this exciting, if dated, classic of romantic suspense. With her lovely English accent, narrator Ellie Heydon embodies the naïve Jennifer as she arrives at a remote convent high in the French Pyrenees to visit her cousin, Gillian. Finding that Gillian recently died without ever mentioning any relatives, Jennifer's suspicions of evil doings are aroused. Wild weather conditions add to the tension and danger as Jennifer gets closer to the truth. Heydon is equally adept at portraying the sinister Spanish-accented Dona Francisca and the French-speaking nuns. French orphan Celeste is depicted in a youthful timid voice, while boyfriend Stephen has just the right amount of bravado as he rescues the damsels in distress.
