Narrators Almarie Guerra, Vikas Adam, and Mia Barron deliver a performance full of wonder in this retelling of "The Red Shoes." Barron voices Lala, who faces suspicion due to her Romani heritage as women dance themselves to death in the summer of 1518. Guerra voices Rosella, a modern-day Latina teen who repaired her grandfather's treasured red shoes and now suffers from the same dancing sickness. Adam voices Emil, Lala's present-day descendant, who has avoided learning about his heritage to better fit in but who may be Rosella's only hope. The audiobook's frequent point-of-view shifts benefit from multiple narrators, who ease the transitions from chapter to chapter.
