MOTHERSTRUCK!

Staceyann Chin brings considerable experience as a spoken-word artist and performer to her latest role as narrator. She holds nothing back while telling her personal story of becoming a mother. Chin's delivery is impassioned, sarcastic, and lively. She carries us along the ups and downs of being put on bed rest, fear of miscarrying, and the looming challenge of motherhood itself. We are taken fully into her perspective as though catching up with an old friend. Chin's story is full of familiar themes of first-time motherhood and yet has unique aspects as well. A lesbian, Chin shakes off the unsolicited, negative opinions of strangers about her pregnancy via insemination in a powerful, assertive voice, using humor whenever possible. We laugh as we learn.
