Author/narrator Guy Bass splendidly re-creates the world of 10-year-old sad, lonely Ben Bunsin. Ben's world includes a character named Skeleton Keys and another named Gorblimey, who is Ben's imaginary friend. When gentle, nervous Gorblimey shifts from imaginary to unimaginary, Skeleton Keys (SK) proclaims that Gorblimey is dangerous. As SK, Bass rolls his "r"s and seems snobby, while Ben and Gorblimey share a hesitant sweetness. Listeners will visit Ben's school with Gorblimey to meet Patty Blanket, Cliff Pitchfork, and Ichabod Twist, whose voices and personalities match their names. The most fun is hilarious and mischievous Daisy, who was Ben's first imaginary friend when he was younger and was whom he blamed when he was naughty. Exceptional sound effects add appeal.
