THE GUNS OF EASTER

Stephen Hogan's dynamic performance draws listeners into the story of the Easter Rising in Ireland in 1916. Twelve-year-old Jimmy Conway has quite an adventure during his search for his Uncle Mick, who is fighting with the rebels occupying the local post office. Through Hogan's narration, life on the poor side of Dublin during the uprising is vividly depicted. Hogan shifts from Dublin accents with broad vowels and lilting tones for the local rebels and Jimmy to sharper Ulster and English accents for the British army men.
