Narrator Vikas Adam is versatile in portraying various characters in this original, if overstuffed, work about family and nature. Adam narrates four somewhat interconnected stories with relaxed pacing and authentic accents. In "Islands," an Indian woman can talk to spirits. In "Faultline," an abused woman is searching for her long-lost son. "Valley" and "Snow Dessert" are spin-offs of the two earlier stories; each of them is set in various places in Asia. Though the plots can be complex and philosophical, Adam's pleasant voice holds the listener's attention. Those who are into long, character-driven stories will enjoy this audiobook.
