THE BONE JAR Detective Lew Kirby, Book 1

This murder mystery benefits from narrator Matthew Lloyd Davies's excellent timing. When the body of an elderly woman is found in a former asylum, Detective Lew Kirby tries to solve the crime, only to discover another body nearby, as well as secrets from his own past. While investigating, Kirby meets the aptly named Connie Darke, whose sister also died at the asylum. As they work together to achieve closure, Davies's performance is spot-on, creating individual voices and using a nuanced tone to highlight key moments.
