This is neither the same Alexander Hamilton nor the same Aaron Burr as the ones in the renowned musical--although both stories are based on the same historical facts. Jack Casey's version, narrated by Robert Fass with considerable élan, focuses on the connections between the two duels, those of Alexander and his son Philip. Fass sounds as if he is completely caught up in the story as he uses only slight vocal variations to differentiate the characters. The work is thoroughly researched--even showing off sometimes with unnecessary details--but still contains a few anachronisms. But despite that, and despite our knowing in advance how the story will end, the audiobook retains its excitement. D.M.H. © AudioFile 2020, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPTEMBER 2020]
