Narrator Almarie Guerra returns to perform the second installment in the Chilling Effect series, a space opera featuring a smuggler gone (mostly) good. The audiobook picks up the action from the first novel as Captain Eva Innocente reluctantly accepts a freelance assignment from her sister to find a kidnapped tech scientist. Guerra's ease with Spanish makes Eva's personality pop since the Cuban captain often defaults to her mother tongue when faced with danger or feeling anger. Eva's crew has been cobbled together from around the universe, and Guerra highlights their individual differences as well as the team's loyalty and friendship. Fast action, galactic politics, and uneasy family relationships color Eva's mission as she crisscrosses space, chasing down clues to the missing man.
