These tales come alive as narrator Gary Bennett renders each period, setting, and character unique. Listeners will be captivated by this spirited collection of diverse stories, with Bennett deftly capturing the speech patterns and vocabulary of each tale in a collection that runs the gamut from mildly amusing to heartbreaking. Standouts include "The Devil's Dip," in which high school seniors have a harrowing experience with a ghost that follows them into adulthood. Both their teenage and mature voices are spot-on. Bennett is at his compassionate best in "The Glimmer Girls"--based on a true story.
