Listeners will find themselves on Mars in 2039 A.D. as 14-year-old Tyce Sanders, a disabled specialist in virtual reality, finds himself in a desperate situation as the air runs out of his colony. Narrator Adam Verner provides distinct voices for the main characters, including a robotic voice for Tyce when he is involved with his virtual reality program and is being seen as "just a machine" by the other characters. When he's interacting in the real world, Verner gives him a warmer and fully articulated speaking voice. In this fast-paced story, Verner uses noticeably strident tones as it becomes increasingly clear that, while Tyce could hold the key to saving everyone, he is ever more likely to be either disbelieved or ignored.
