EIGHT LITTLE PIGGIES

This sixth volume of Gould's essays, collected from his columns in Natural History magazine, demonstrates his wide-ranging interests in the field. Its theme is men who have made discoveries and developed theories, and how the world has treated them. Larry McKeever, who has narrated many of Gould's books, reads as an academic would: slowly, precisely, with measured tones. For a Stephen Jay Gould fan, McKeever does a very good job with the essays. McKeever's voice is low and deep; a lighter inflection might attract those less familiar with the works. Production values are up to Books on Tape's usual high standards.
