Gary Furlong's British accent evokes the English countryside although the tale is set in the American South. But his spirited portrayal of various animal species in a Southern dialect does bring to life the Louisiana swamp setting of this audiobook. When Tubs the frog and his cousin, Lila, notice that the inhabitants of their swamp are getting sick, they are determined to find the cause. Eventually, they discover polluted water spewing from a factory, and the swamp wildlife band together to stop the pollution. What Furlong lacks in cultural authenticity, he makes up for with enthusiasm as he gives the animals distinct voices that range from the deep tones of the old bullfrog to the high nasal hum of the insects.
