THE INVISIBLE WOMAN

Narrator Caroline Hewitt performs this partially fictionalized account of the work of Virginia Hall, a Baltimore debutante who became an Allied spy and key player in the French resistance during WWII. In the weeks before and after D-Day, Hall, a wireless operator, worked behind enemy lines to organize supply drops, help other resisters, and communicate with her superiors in England. She overcame many obstacles, including her foreign-sounding French, a physical handicap, and being on the Nazis' most wanted list. Hewitt's measured pace is a good match for the accounts of Hall's careful planning and dangerous maneuvers. She creates different voices for the characters, distinguishing their backgrounds by implementing recognizable French, British, German, and American accents.
