MY YEAR ABROAD

Tiller is a 20-something who is lost in the world when he meets a single mother, Val, and her son at an airport. Narrator Lawrence Kao is a wonderful voice for this complex novel, which takes listeners on emotional and physical journeys. Kao captures Tiller's dislocation and gentleness throughout this story of a mismatched couple who are hiding from secrets in their very different pasts. As Kao seamlessly manages the many time-shifts, listeners can sink into this title, safe in the hands of an experienced narrator who balances the danger and humor laced throughout.
