All facets of this program are in harmony. Barbara Cooney's magical illustrations and Christine Lahti's soft, compelling narration are perfect complements to Michael Bedard's story about Emily Dickinson and her small neighbor. The story is a good choice for recording. The narrative has plenty of substance and fine, evocative imagery not dependent on the pictures. Lahti projects the special sense of wonder and mystery that makes Bedard's story so memorable. Soft piano music accompanies the story but doesn't detract. Each part can stand alone, and yet when combined they present a rich aural and visual experience. R.F.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN 94]
