Narrator Tavia Gilbert provides a convincing narration of this historical fiction set in Manhattan after WWII. A year after the death of her mother, Sophia Moon, Isobelle sets out on a quest to find out what happened to her. She starts by researching the jewels missing from her mother's tiara. The novel is set in both Russia and Manhattan, and is told from two points of view. Gilbert does an excellent job distinguishing mother and daughter, and her delivery of Sophia's Russian accent sounds authentic. Also, her unique blend of accents and voices for other characters is smooth. While Gilbert is the sole narrator of this audiobook, listeners may be tempted to check the credits to make sure. Gilbert is that good. M.L.S. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2021]
