This audiobook biography tells the story of Raye Montague, the engineer who developed the first computer-generated ship design. That the engineer who pioneered this technological advancement was both female and African-American is especially inspiring. The main narrator is Robin Eller, who brings enthusiasm and vocal integrity to the task of showing listeners just who this "little girl from Little Rock" really was and what can be accomplished with maternal support, ambition, hard work, and a commitment to learning. While parts of the biography are technical, there is a novelistic feel to the narrative that makes Raye seem real and her accomplishments in overcoming social barriers just as important as her computer programming successes. Kevin Kenerly reads a small section by David Montague, Raye's son D.L.G. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2021]
