The first installment in the Wings of Fury series is a retelling of a Greek myth featuring Cronus, the first Titan and the god of gods. Narrator Lauren Ezzo has a lot of empathy for Althea, the storyteller. Before her mother dies during Cronus's birth, she charges Althea to protect her sisters, and Althea makes that her mission. This world is not a friendly place for women. Ezzo's male voices are a bit rough, but they are easy to distinguish. Cronus is clearly vain, shrewd, and power hungry. Ezzo presents Althea as a complex character--fearless in the face of a hard world and determined to fulfill her mission.
