Mystery & Suspense • 4.5 hrs. • Abridged • © 1997

The mystery of mankind and his ancestors is always a fascinating arena for mystery novels. In Philip Kerr's seventh novel, he tackles the discovery of a hominid skull in the Himalayas and its subsequent effect on the academic and governmental arenas. David Purdham does a fine job with the palette of foreign accents the story requires and an admirable job with narration that is, at times, stilted and obvious. Overall, though, the story is intriguing, and Purdham keeps listeners riveted. R.A.P. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 98]
