Narrator Kirsten Potter transports listeners to the small Swedish island where Police Detective Hannah Duncker grew up. Having left as a teenager, Duncker has returned to get to the bottom of her father's murder of a local woman. Her first official assignment is to investigate the tragic death of Joel, the teenage son of her former friend, Rebekka. Potter comfortably pronounces Swedish place names and finds fitting voices for the many characters. She effectively presents the points of view of the four main characters, including Joel, as he experiences his last day. Listeners will need to follow closely to keep track of who is sharing their story. The result is a choppy, though engaging, experience. E.Q. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2021]
