Narrator Tanis Parenteau portrays PI Sharon McCone as she investigates the murder of two Indigenous women in the wilds of northern California, putting her own life at risk. Parenteau captures the mounting tension as threatening attacks on McCone's life make her more determined to find the killers despite danger, greed, prejudice, and skeletons uncovered in the community. McCone receives no support from the agencies responsible for protecting Indigenous communities. Parenteau captures her compassion for the victims, as well as her drive to achieve justice for them. Parenteau's character depictions help differentiate the honest from the deceitful, the moral from the ruthless. B.J.P. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2021]
