The listener doesn't have to agree with everything in this riveting exploration of the Second Amendment to be impressed with Anderson's argument and her take on the real history behind the right to bear arms. Karen Chilton provides a rock-solid narration, adopting voices for the real-life characters included in the narrative and otherwise pretty much getting out of the way. And that's appropriate; there's a lot of fury-inducing content in this audiobook. The Second Amendment has shielded some despicable, unforgivable racially motivated violence and behavior. An obviously outraged narrator recounting outrage after outrage might well have been too much. Chilton doesn't indulge; she is engaging, interesting, and steady. This important work is supported by a fine presentation. G.S. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2021]
