This collection of short stories is a listening treat that provides a kaleidoscopic view of Gabriel Garcia Márquez's fictional town of Macondo. Each of the four narrators is paired with specific stories, and their performances offer both variety and enthusiasm. Armando Durán's narration of "No One Writes to the Colonel" depicts the likable but somewhat pathetic titular colonel and his wife. Duran's vocal characterizations capture the humor and sadness of both characters. Roxanne Hernandez finishes off the collection with the final story, "Big Mama's Funeral." Her narration's warmth and energy offer this story the emphasis it deserves, and she nails Big Mama's bold, raspy voice. This audiobook combines J.S.
