This audiobook is a comic tour de force. Murray's story, as narrated by Canadian actor David Ferry, is a laugh-out-loud combination love story, road trip, and so much more. It's part A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES and part ON THE ROAD, with a dash of Charles Bukowski. Ferry's performance is pitch-perfect as he captures the main character's combination of earnestness and awkwardness. Ferry's Leonard Cohen impersonation is a showstopper. And wait until you discover why he carries a silver revolver with "hallelujah" engraved on the barrel. Then there's Noddy, perhaps the most disgustingly lovable character you're likely ever to meet. This listen may not be for everyone, but fans of irreverence and absurdity are sure to be entertained. J.P.S.
