Vacker nails the changes in Kai's mind as he adjusts to family life after being rescued by Mia and her father. Listeners will be amused by Kai's intense focus and bliss when it comes to bacon or his dismay that humans don't "scent mark," both narrated with humorous earnestness. Vacker narrates more gently as an illness gives Kai's journey a tragic twist, returning him to the streets.
