Narrators Mia Barron and Callie Beaulieu are a dynamic duo in their portrayals of estranged half sisters who are reunited after their mother Bette's passing. Gabrielle is 55 and dealing with career fallout, which is tied to her ex-husband. Lulu is 48 and grieving her husband's death. The sisters mend their relationship as they catalogue and make decisions about their inheritance: a large Chanel collection. Tucked into handbags are notes proving Bette loved her daughters in her own fashionable way. Beaulieu narrates the Gabrielle chapters and demonstrates range when a rough New York accent quickly replaces a character's upper-crust pronunciation in anger. Barron narrates the Lulu chapters and excels at portraying her colorful Brooklyn family, which includes her chirpy sister-in-law and her sometimes- admonishing, sometimes-calming mother-in-law.
