There's not a lot of subtlety in Wil Wheaton's narration of this audiobook. He's off like a rocket and doesn't let up. The story begins as the Covid pandemic is gearing up. A bored food delivery person named Jamie, who lives in New York City, gets involved with an animal rights organization. The only thing is the animals aren't on Earth. Wheaton's portrayal of Jamie is a combination of sardonic and fearless. Jamie's part of the story is told in the first person and includes plenty of ranting about politics and billionaires who think they can do anything and treat others as they please. The rest of the story is told in the third person but it is no less snarky. J.E.M. © AudioFile 2022, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2022]
