Activist Amy Lutz's insightful commentary, observations, and advocacy are perfectly conveyed in Amy Deuchler's superb narration. Deuchler's tone is insistent and compassionate as she details Lutz's journey as the mother of a child (now 20-something) with severe autism. Care is taken to differentiate Jonah and his need for "extreme care" and lifelong supportive services from people like Dr. Sheldon Cooper on "The Big Bang Theory," who are able to be independent because they are less severely autistic. Lutz weaves in accounts from other parents, as well as medical research, and Deuchler subtly alters her voice to differentiate those from Lutz's personal narrative. While this essay collection does not shy away from Jonah's many challenges, what shines through is the profound love that his family has for him. M.J.
