This dual narration is an immersive listening experience because both narrators are equally strong at vocalizing the other's protagonist as well as their own. Narrator Stefanie Kay introduces young widow Melody March, whose late husband described her as the sun due to her big smile and heart. Now alone, Melody meets the withdrawn, curmudgeonly Parker Denison, portrayed by Neill Thorne, at a suicide prevention group in Wisconsin. Kay lobs Melody's grief into every inch of her performance with a throaty, sometimes shaky voice that evolves as Melody finds her "starting point" reason to live and connects with Parker. Thorne limns Parker as both an expletive-spouting contractor and a wounded soul desperate for love. Thorne's voice, both masculine and vulnerable, is a touching counterpoint to Kay's.
