Khristine Hvam, Jodie Harris, and James Patrick Cronin narrate the first of this YA sci-fi series. It's set on Earth and on the planet Zadok, where Earthlings become reincarnated. Hvam narrates as the main character, a resident of Zadok who remembers her counterpart's brutal murder. Harris narrates as the spirit of the murdered Earthling. While the two characters speak in distinct accents, they manage to convince listeners they are the same person by capturing the essence of the two bodies and one soul. Cronin anchors the audiobook with his portrayal of the lovelorn best friend on planet Zadok. Each internal monologue--full of longing--pulls on listeners' heartstrings.
