SISTER STARDUST

Narrator Fiona Hardingham portrays an aging woman named Claire, whose mind drifts back and forth between the present day and her memories of wilder times in the 1960s. Young, innocent Claire crosses paths with the magnetic socialite Talitha Getty one night in London. Soon, Talitha and her rich and famous friends bring Claire to Marrakesh. Claire is shocked and intrigued by their sex and drug-fueled lifestyle but is reluctant to forgo the adventure, even when a darker side is revealed. The novel is inspired by a true story, and Hardingham's lively performance depicts hedonism but also a time of tender intimacy and emotional exploration. The languid pace of a group's conversation while smoking opium contrasts with the excited shrieks of teen girls as they encounter famous musicians.
